One of many projects launched on our newly created Greeley Station YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/GreeleyStation), a live streaming improv show with the objective of elevating the typical live stream with a beautifully rendered virtual theater. The show is called Greeley Station Theater Presents the Digital Grid Players Go Live, Volume 5!

Our primary challenge was to see how we could import video from a video-conference software into Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) so that players would be seen within the virtual theater scene. Finding innovative high-tech solutions is where Bikeshop Agency excels, with just a few weeks of development we had come up with a beautiful solution.

A little known feature of Skype is the integration of NDI, a video transport protocol that is used by professional videographers to send low-latency video streams between computer systems. In other words, send high-quality video over a computer network really fast. With this feature enabled a video source from each participant in the Skype conference call can be individually placed on the digital stage.

Each episode is produced from the Bikeshop Agency office where we initiate a Skype call and then use the Open Broadcaster System software to build each scene and create transitions that look like a curtain open and close!

The graphics for our show were created in Blender 3D by Peter Romero, the picture frames that adorn each player were created in Adobe Illustrator.
